About Krombot
The Philosophy: When Possible, Reject Boring
I believe that even the most functional objects in our lives are opportunities for joy. We spend so much of our day-to-day interacting with mass-produced gear: standard, grey, functional, utilitarian. At Krombot, I choose to infuse whimsy into those moments. Whether it’s a custom knob for your favorite sampler or an accessory for your latest craft project, my goal is to help you choose expression over the "standard."
The Process: Obsessive Calibration
"Good enough" isn't in my vocabulary when it comes to design. Because I am both the designer and the manufacturer, I obsess over the details that mass-production overlooks.
-
The Perfect Fit: Every knob undergoes extensive fit testing. I calibrate for 0.2mm variances in filament types to ensure your gear is snug enough to stay put, but gentle enough to protect your equipment.
-
Refined Quality: I’ve spent countless hours tuning my print profiles to smooth out layer lines as much as possible, ensuring that what you hold feels like a finished piece of art, not just a plastic prototype.
-
The Unboxing: I believe the experience starts before you even use the product. I design custom packaging for every item because a perfectly fitted box is a missed opportunity for fun if it isn't satisfying to open.
The Studio: A Menagerie of Hobbies
Krombot is run out of a small studio in Oakland, California, tucked away under cherry trees and guarded by a neighborhood watch of sassy scrub jays and territorial hummingbirds. It is a space of organized chaos and a tribute to my life as a serial hobbyist. If it involves string; be it yarn, thread, or 3D printing filament, it’s in my wheelhouse. Surrounded by a collection of art that teeters between silly and spooky, and the hum of my printers, I’m constantly designing new ways to bring a touch of whimsy and a pop of color to your creative world.
